The Holy Spirit is Moving, Part 1

The Holy Spirit is Moving, Part 1

All is not frozen.

Our work in the land is frozen.  ISIS threats against Christians in the land, to attack Christians in their assemblies and activities, has greatly hindered, and even halted in most instances, the work of Christians.  The Government has prohibited public Christian gatherings for security reasons.  As a result, Christians are gathering underground, in houses, as in early Church history.

Also affected by the ISIS threat, the Government process regarding our work on the children’s home is frozen too.  The waiting is seemingly endless, as are the Government demands (unrequited) for money.  Nonetheless, the Lord is on His Throne and His timing is perfect.

Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit is not frozen, He is working!  This post is the first of three testimonies of His work, which encourages us to keep working.

Two dear brothers in the Lord, I will call them Boutros and Yoannis, have been stirred by the Spirit of God to do the Lord’s work of sharing their faith in Jesus Christ with their Muslim neighbors, a cultural and legal taboo in the land.

Boutros went to the mosque in his village one night.  Chairs were set up outside the mosque, one of which was occupied by a Muslim man named Ali.  Boutros approached Ali and congratulated him on the Eid al-Adha, Islam’s most revered annual observance.  Being celebrated worldwide this weekend,  Eid al-Adha is known as the “Feast of the Sacrifice”;  it honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.  Having received Boutros genuine congratulations, Ali said something remarkable, something unheard in a Muslim mosque.

Ali:  “I believe Jesus Christ died on the Cross.”

Boutros:  “What?  Why did He die?”

Ali:  “For our sins, to save us.”

Boutros:  “Are you Muslim?”

Ali:  “Yes.”

Boutros:  “Where did you get this information?”

Ali:  “From the radio.  I researched it, now I believe it.”

Sitting in chairs outside a Muslim mosque in his village, Boutros led Ali in the sinner’s prayer to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior!  Boutros collected Ali’s contact information, and now the work of discipleship begins!  Praise the Lord!  The Holy Spirit moved in Boutros AND in Ali, gave boldness to both Boutros AND Ali, guided their steps to keep His supernatural appointment, and saved another soul from the righteous judgment of God.

The pursuit of our calling in the land may be frozen by terror (ISIS) and fear (Government and many Christians), but it is only temporary.  Because the Holy Spirit is moving!  Please pray with us for wisdom, discernment, and guidance through the hindrances before us (1 Cor 16:9).  Be encouraged, come alongside us and be a part of what God is doing in that land!
